Toby and Ace Discount Code | Toby and Ace Dog Bed Review

This post contains a full review of the Toby and Ace Buddy bed and at the end of this post you can get access to a 20% Toby and Ace Discount Code! (Which you can add in addition to the 2023 Black Friday Sale)

Dog comfort has always been one of our household's passions. My partner even went as far as to create a custom dog bed that sat up on the windowsill for our dogs to comfortably rest on.

Needless to say, we are picky about our dog beds (and so are our two dogs and a couple foster dogs we've had along the way)

I'd originally heard about Toby and Ace through a family friend, and I was skeptical about the amount of comfort you could get out of any dog bed that could be worth the cost of a Buddy Bed. Now on any given day, one or both of the dogs will rotate through taking a nap in their favorite Buddy Bed.

Toby and Ace Buddy Bed

For those who want to learn a bit more before purchasing, here's a full review about the Buddy Bed.

The first thing to notice about the Buddy Bed is that it fits in nearly every room and looks good (even a year later). It cleans well, and is just the right color that you don't notice dirt easily on it.

The Buddy Bed comes in four sizes: small, medium, large and extra large. You'll see a large buddy bed pictured throughout this post.

We have two large Buddy Beds (one upstairs and one downstairs). So there's no obstacles in the way between our dogs having to wait in line for comfort.

Why We (our dogs) Love the Toby and Ace Dog Bed

When taking into consideration whether this bed was actually worth what we paid for it, we asked the dogs!

Cooper, 75 pounds and Razz, 60 pounds, snuggled up in the large Buddy Bed.

The Buddy Bed is veterinarian recommended and clinically proven to increase circulation, reduce stress and strain, relieve anxiety, increase your dog's ability to regulate their body temp (which is great for brachiocephalic dogs like pugs, frenchies, bulldogs and boxers.)

To be honest, I don't really understand the science behind which mattress type or material is best for orthopedic issues, cooling a dog down, or spinal alignment (for myself or my dogs!) However, I did work as a vet tech for 5 years, so I understand the value of these things.

Whether or not I understand the science behind it, my dogs continually go back to using this bed, and that's all the science that matters to me.

That being said, our dogs use this bed. And before this bed I hadn't really spent much on dog beds since our dogs aren't really "dog bed" dogs.  They enjoy lounging around on the couch or a human bed. However, I have regularly caught them snuggled up in their Buddy Bed (sometimes even at the same time.)

Toby and Ace Dog Bed Instructions

The Buddy Bed comes in three different vacuum-sealed packages. Assembly is pretty self explanatory, and only takes a few minutes.

The first picture on the left is of the vacuum-sealed packages. The photo on the right is what the items look like out of the vacuum-sealed package.

After opening the vacuum sealed packages, put the water-resistant white cover on the blue mattress pad. Insert this into the back of the dog bed cover.

Stuff the sides and zip it up and that's all! The whole process took maybe 5 minutes.

How to Wash Toby and Ace Dog Bed

Because the Buddy Bed is a much higher quality material, taking it apart to wash can be annoying if you're used to throwing the whole bed itself into the washer and dryer.

Personally, I'd love to throw the whole thing in the washer with no unzipping or taking the bed apart. But, that's part of the price of quality.

Despite the unzipping, unstuffing, restuffing and rezipping, the bed is super easy to clean; and it cleans well!

I've washed the bed quite a few times between foster dogs and normal maintenance from dog hair and dirt. Every time, all it took was one normal wash cycle to bring the bed right back to normal!

This is two large Buddy Beds next to each other. The one on the left is brand new, the one on the right has been used heavily for about a year.

The older one has a little more wear and tear on the color, and is a little more flattened on the sides, but still is just as squishy to the touch. Our dogs seem to prefer the old one, but once the "new bed" smell wears off, I'm sure they'll warm up to the new piece of comfort furniture.

Toby and Ace Dog Bed Reviews

Overall, this is the only bed I recommend to other dog owners. While I don't love the cost, I can't help but notice my dogs actually use, appreciate and love this bed and that is worth everything to me! You do get what you pay for with this dog bed.

On the Toby and Ace website, the Buddy Bed has over 680 reviews, averaging 4.9 stars out of 5. (Only 47 of which are a 4 star rating and the rest are 5 star ratings.) The reason? If your dog doesn't love it after 60 days, return it!

That way, you can be sure to get your ROI for your dog's comfort.

I help dogs and dog owners enjoy life together and sometimes I ride horses. 🐶🐴

This is a call I get a lot, so I want to educate on some FAQs and common mistakes made when picking equipment for your dog.

People often search for new equipment when their dog is pulling too much or reacting. They feel overwhelmed and out of control and look for a new tool. Totally understandable. Sometimes we need to change the tool to get better results!

Owners often reach for prong collars- and GIANT ones- like this one because they think, “my dog really pulls/is extra large/is out of control so they’ll need the biggest size they have.”

But especially with reactive dogs, prong collars can increase defensive drive in dogs and make reactivity worse. Plus, we almost never need this size.

*IF* I use a prong collar (which is very rare these days) we’re usually reaching for the smallest link size and adding links for larger necks.

More than likely, we’re reaching for a slip leash, or for big dogs, something like the Heathers Heroes SideKick Leash that uses a power loop to disarm a dog’s strong back muscles.

Dogs are sensitive creatures. They can feel a flea on them, and they can be responsive to the slightest change in movement, pressure, or vocal commands. It’s the person who feel the need to get bigger, louder, stronger when they don’t feel heard.

We can teach your dog to be as sensitive as possible, and we don’t have to dull them with big, loud tools.

Pictures is a Great Dane who became sooo much more responsive and connected when we swapped the prong collar to the SideKick, which we’re starting as a slip leash. We are conditioning her to be comfortable with it over her nose too so we can be better prepared if she has strong feelings. I LOVE that this owner was so willing to trust me with her dog, own her past decisions, and be willing to share what she learned to help educate others!

Hi! There’s a lot of new people here recently, Hi!
There’s a lot of new people here recently, so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, the business and some updates!

I’m Alex Austin! I am the owner and trainer at Liggett Dog Training. Liggett (Lih-Get) is my maiden name, and comes with my mother’s side of the family who taught me so much about what I know about animals.

I have been training professionally for almost 4 years, but before that I worked in veterinary medicine, trained horses, and worked in an animal shelter. Along the way, I also got my master’s in Social Work and spent about two years working as a mental health therapist.

I got wrapped up with training when my own dog, Razz, was experiencing some very significant behavior issues and in my horse trainer brain I knew that I couldn’t send her away for training because her behavior depends on ME. Someone else could teach her the skills, but it was up to me to implement them.

So, I started digging in and doing the work myself, consulting a few mentors along the way. She is always a dog who will need some management, but we have both come such a long way with where we were.

When it comes to helping and training your dog I am here for YOU and your dog. Dog training, especially behavior modification, can be incredibly personal and emotional as you evaluate yourself, your relationship with your dog and the options that you have.

These days, I am heavily focused on pet dog training and teaching you and your dog practical life skills to help both of you enjoying life together. We approach training holistically- looking at the relationship, the lifestyle, exercise, and even your pet’s diet when it comes to maximizing your dog’s quality of life.

Below is a picture of myself and my dog Razz (the smaller one) and Cooper. Cooper recently earned his angel wings after a two year battle with Cancer. You’ll probably see him pop up on my newsfeed from time to time as he was a once in a lifetime dog for our family and an asset to helping other dogs in training. Continued in comments..

Razz came along for the run, too and overall did really well with all of the commotion! She wore a muzzle as a safety precaution but also to help alert others that she’s a dog who needs some space from other dogs to do her best.

We also chatted briefly about getting a foster dog in the next couple weeks 👀
