Comfy season is here!! Every pup loves a good blanket to snuggle up with in the cooler months, and even some of the warmer seasons. Whether your dog has short, medium or long hair there's still a comfort in snuggling with something soft.
If my dog's are conssiuers of anything, it's blankets. They will eat anything. They will go anywhere. But they can be a little bit demanding with where and what they sleep on.

How to choose a dog blanket
Really, any blanket can be a dog blanket!
However, if you want to be practical about it, there's a few factors to consider. A blanket that is machine washable will be worth every penny (IMO).
Furthermore, a white or light blanket will show much more dirt, and it will be very difficult to make it look clean.
If you have a young dog or a dog who is notorious for chewing or destroying blankets, you'll want to stay away from anything tempting like tassels, 3D designs or padding.
Especially if there's any chance you'll be leaving your dog alone in a crate with the blanket.
When considering material, fleece is super soft, easy to clean and will be the cheapest option in most cases. While sherpa looks great for decorating around the house, it can start to look clumpy with dog hair and dirt or after a few wash cycles.
So personally, I definitely don't let my favorite sherpa blanket end up on the dog bed, though sometimes it makes it's way over there anyway.
A reversible blanket with sherpa on one side and another material on the other side is the best way to split the difference between function, convenience and price.
While I try to avoid mixing dogs with sherpa material, sherpa is a great choice for making things look decorative so it's a great choice for the living room or bedroom.
One of the best blankets that have remained intact after at least 10 years of use in New York winters, rough and tumble play with the dogs are alpaca blankets.

My favorite way to store blankets is by far a blanket ladder (I'm also a sucker for anything farmhouse style.) I prefer a ladder with as little assembly required as possible- like this one.
Admittedly, we have a few of these types of baskets around our house. A home can never have too many baskets.
If you want your blankets completely out of sight, an ottoman that also acts as storage could be the way to go!
You could also consider a coffee table like this one that offers storage completely out of the way.
I love this not just for the added lift for workspace or dinner table, but also for the extra storage and opportunity to be decorative on the bottom!

The faker, the softer, the better IMO. And my dogs agree! We will constantly find our dogs curled up on their faux fur blanket over many others blanket options.
